Policies and Procedures

Textbook Refund Policy
Books purchased at the beginning of the semester can be returned for full refund during the first three (3) days of the semester with the original receipt. If you drop a class, you have two (2) weeks from the first day of the semester to return with a drop slip from the Student’s First Center. Last day to return textbooks is stated on the front of the receipt. New textbooks must be in original condition (original-shrink wrap, with CD’s unopened, free of markings etc.)

 

General Merchandise Refund Policy
General merchandise can be returned for a full refund if returned within 30 days of purchase and accompanied by an original receipt. Merchandise must be in new condition with all tags and packaging.

Loyalty Points Policy

Loyalty points are non-refundable or exchangeable. Loyalty points are forfeited at the time of purchase. Any refunds issued on product paid with dual loyalty points and outside funds will not have the loyalty points refunded.


Textbook Buyback
The bookstore buys books during finals week each semester. Textbooks being used the subsequent semester may be bought back for the bookstore, if the editions match and stock is needed. Textbooks being bought back must be in overall good condition, with no water/fire damage, minimal highlighting and writing, and no torn or missing pages. Online buyback is available year round.

 

Student Account vs. Cat Dollars

Both accounts are accessible via the Cat Card. Students may use either account for textbook purchases. However, there are limitations to using each type of account.  More information can be found below and on the FAQ page.

 

Paying with Student Account

The Student Account can be used for textbook reservations online, and it can also be used for in-store textbook purchases. If there is an outstanding balance, payment deadlines can be found at ePay.

                                              

Disclaimer

Once a purchase has been made on the Student Account, the Campus Store is unable to make changes on the payment type. In the case of extenuating circumstances, a petition must be submitted with proof of necessity for the change in payment type. Petitions may be approved or denied at the discretion of Campus Store Management. Petitions can be submitted online HERE.

 

Paying with Cat Dollars

Cat Dollars can be used on all Campus Store purchases, funds permitting. Cat Dollars can be used for textbook purchases in-store. Online payment with Cat Dollars is not available at this time, but this option is being explored for future terms. For more information visit our website.

Exceptions
No returns will be allowed for food items, electronics, software, art supplies, lab supplies including goggles, or clearance merchandise unless authorized by the Campus Store Management.

 

Gift Cards cannot be purchased with Cat Cards.

Any cash or check refunds over $500.00 may require the Campus Store to mail a check to the customer. Please allow 2 weeks to receive the check.

All refunds will be assessed a 10% restocking fee. This restocking fee may be waived if purchasing product at an equal or greater value of the solicited refund, at the discretion of Campus Store Management.

 

Returned Checks:

The UC Merced Campus Store accepts personal checks. If the check is returned, the check writer will no longer be able to use checks as a method of payment with the College Store; however cash payments (i.e. cash, credit card, cashier's check, money order, or CatCard) will be acceptable payments for future transactions. There will be a $20 fee for any check with non-sufficient funds (NSF). Contact will be made with the check writer, and compensation for the NSF check plus the amount that was payable on the check will be made. 

  

Phone Orders:

The UC Merced Campus Store is dedicated to providing you with as many options to purchase product from our store. Due to security reasons, we will not accept credit card numbers over the phone. This is to protect you and your credit card information. Our website is the best option to place a secure order from our store without visiting in person.


Bobcat Rewards Program Information

In appreciation to all of our loyal customers who help support the university by shopping in the Campus Store, we now have a Rewards Program. This allows you to earn points on every purchase you make at the Campus Store.
